If you would rather read about a whole service than a single answer, four groups of work between them cover everything: emergency plumbing, general plumbing, drainage and hot water.
Pricing and Booking
Money questions come first for a reason, because nobody wants a surprise on the invoice. These four cover how we price, how you pay and how fast we move:
Call (07) 3524 7117How does a fixed quote work?
You get the full price in writing before any work starts, and the figure you approve is the figure you pay, so nothing gets added once the tools come out.
Can I pay on the day the work is done?
Yes, card and EFTPOS payments are taken on site when the job finishes, so there is no invoice to chase or transfer to arrange after the plumber packs up and leaves.
What makes one job cost more than another?
Access, pipe material and the age of the house move a price most, because digging, wall opening and replacing old galvanised or earthenware lines all take more time than a straightforward swap.
How quickly can a plumber get to me?
Call early and we will do our best to get a plumber to you same-day where we can, because a morning call gives the day its best chance and the booking sheet fills by lunch.
What We Fix
The short answer is water, drains and gas in one licence. The longer answer sits in these four:
Call (07) 3524 7117Do you do gas fitting as well as water work?
Yes, the licence covers plumbing and drainage as well as gasfitting, so one visit can sort a leaking tap, a blocked sewer and a faulty cooker connection in the same booking.
Can you replace a hot water system, not just repair it?
We do both, from element and thermostat repairs to full replacements, and the best choice usually shows itself once the old unit is tested and its condition is on the table.
Do you clear sewer and stormwater lines?
Yes, sewer and stormwater lines are both in scope, along with camera inspections that show the fault on screen, which matters when roots or a shifted joint hide the real cause.
Can you find a hidden leak without opening walls?
A camera run, pressure testing and moisture readings narrow the search first, and that saves pulling up tiles or cutting a wall open on a guess, which is a slower and costlier way.
Emergencies First
Some things will not wait for a booked slot, and knowing the first move keeps a bad night from getting worse. Start here:
Call (07) 3524 7117What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Water you cannot shut off, gas you can smell, a sewer backing up into the house or no hot water at all are the four that should not wait for a booked slot.
What should I do about a split hose under a vanity?
Turn the water off at the isolation valve behind the vanity first, because that small lever stops the feed to the fixture, then dry the cupboard and call so we can replace the split line.
Can a gas smell ever wait?
No, a gas smell means getting everyone outside and calling from there, without flicking switches or lighting flames, and the same rules apply whether the smell is faint or strong.
What are the first steps for an overflowing toilet?
Stop the flush at the cistern button, shut the water at the isolation tap beside the toilet, and keep everyone out of the room until a plumber arrives with the right clearing gear.
Grange Pipes and Conditions
Old suburbs have old plumbing habits, and this one has plenty of both. These four come up on almost every visit:
Call (07) 3524 7117Who owns which pipe when something fails?
Urban Utilities cares for the water main and the public sewer beneath the street, whereas each pipe running from that connection point across your land is the owner's to deal with.
Why do drains run slow in the older houses here?
Many houses here were connected with vitrified earthenware drains whose cement joints loosen over a century underground, so roots and ground movement find the gaps and slow the whole line.
Does creek flooding affect plumbing near the brook?
Council's February 2022 flood map covers the parks beside Kedron Brook, so storm rain can leave the low ground saturated and push water back through old joints and yard gullies until it drains.
How do I book a plumber?
Ring (07) 3524 7117 and tell us what is happening and where in Grange, and we will talk through the next step, set a time and bring the parts the job is likely to need.
